Smart Baby Reading At 12 Months (Part 1)May 22, 2012
brillbaby.com | This video was taken 2 days after Felicity's 1st birthday. Felicity's interest in reading was fostered as early as 4 months old, with a systematic program developed for her when she was 9+ months old. Before her first birthday, she could recognize and know the meanings of many words, including the fourteen words which she went through in this video clap, toes, point, open, hair, eat, kick, foot, fingers, bubble, dog, arms up, ear, wave. Most importantly, no one had to force her (we do not believe in forcing!), and sometimes you can't drag her away from her books. Note: When this video was taken, she did not know phonics, in that she either recognizes the word, or she doesn't. If your definition of "reading" means she must know phonics, then she doesn't know how to read. But then, that would also mean that people 'reading' languages such as Chinese do not know how to read either, because you either recognize the Chinese character(s) or you don't. Having said that, we've found that the more a child is exposed to words (even if they are merely memorizing the words at first), they figure out the phonics rules for themselves intuitively. Also see the compilation video of all her reading videos: www.youtube.com To find out more about teaching your baby to read, or making smarter babies, see www.brillbaby.com . In particular, check out the Little Reader reading software which was also used to help Felicity learn to read. You can see another baby using Little ...
Smart Baby Reading at 12 Months (Part 2)May 22, 2012
brillbaby.com | This video was taken when Felicity was 12 and a half months old. Here's baby Felicity reading again, this time mainly reading the words out loud, like Daddy, Mommy, baby, ball, knee, cup, bubble, dog and some Chinese words. No one had to force her (we do not believe in forcing!), and sometimes you can't drag her away from her books. Note When this video was taken, she did not know phonics, in that she either recognizes the word, or she doesn't. If your definition of "reading" means she must know phonics, then she doesn't know how to read. But then, that would also mean that people 'reading' languages such as Chinese do not know how to read either, because you either recognize the Chinese character(s) or you don't. Having said that, we've found that the more a child is exposed to words (even if they are merely memorizing the words at first), they figure out the phonics rules for themselves intuitively and very quickly. 1 year old Baby Can Read, and Loves to Read!May 21, 2012
brillbaby.com | This is a compilation video showing Baby Naimah at 16 months reading using the BrillKids Little Reader system, as well as showing what happens when she thinks she's not going to get her reading lesson! Nim's mother started using the Little Reader system with her when she was 10 months old, and in less than 2 months, Nim was showing signs of recognizing words already. Note, this is 'whole word' reading, not phonetic reading, though by now Nim is already picking up the rules of phonics intuitively already. For more about the whole words vs phonics debate, see the articles on www.brillbaby.com . Most importantly, Nim just loves her Little Reader lessons and cannot get enough of it, as you can see in the last segment of the video. It's a complete myth that babies can't be taught to read or would need to be forced to learn to read. The younger you teach them, the more they love it! For the full-length video of her reading over 40 words, see here [ ] To learn about how to teach your baby to read, visit: http.brillbaby.com To learn more about the Little Reader system used by Nim's mother to teach her how to read, visit: brillkids.com Want to see more babies reading?
